9. That the said Messieurs Valdeavellano and Company for themselves and their assigns hereby undertake and declare that they will treat and cause the said
to be treated kindly and humanely during the said period of eight years and shall and will punctually pay or cause to be paid the wages hereinbefore stipulated and that the said

and enjoy the same civil rights and remedies as are by the laws of Peru aforesaid accorded to native citizens and that in case of ill-treatment or breach of this agreement the said
shall have the right to complain and apply for redress from the local tribunals of Peru aforesaid
in respect thereof, and that upon
proof of sufficient gross ill-treatment to the satisfaction of the local Court, this Agreement shall become void and of no effect, and the said Messieurs Valdeavellano and Company or their assigns shall thereupon become liable to pay to the
said
at once the bonus of fifty
clean Mexican dollars or to provide him with a passage to Hongkong with food and clothes as stipulated by article 8 on the completion of the term of service hereby contracted for.
10. That the expression "Messieurs Valdeavellano and Company" in this contract is understood to mean the person or persons for the time being constituting the firm and carrying on business in Peru aforesaid and/or the style of Messieurs Valdeavellano and Company.
11. Lastly the said Messieurs Valdeavellano and Company for themselves and their assigns and the said
do hereby declare that they and each of them understand, are content
with and desire to carry out and perform the several stipulations of this agreement and that they shall observe, obey, and submit themselves to the Laws of Peru in all matters, whether arising out of this agreement or otherwise.

NOTE--In case of a female proceeding under the protection of any male Emigrant under this contract who shall be a member of the Emigrant's family, it is understood that such female shall, if so inclined, enter into a similar contract for such employment under Messieurs Valdeavellano and Company or their assigns as she may be capable of performing, the rate of wages to be agreed upon by the contracting parties at the time of their engagement, but in no case shall any such female be called on to pay any sum whatever for the expense of her passage to Peru.
Every male Emigrant on signing his contract will receive a Bonus of $15, and every female agreeing to engage herself as aforesaid, will receive before departure from Hongkong a Bonus of $20.
